Demons Again!

Her name is NahNeeWah. Two years ago NahNeeWah was so furiously possessed by demons that 12 other girls in the school were drawn down with her.  Read about that catastrophic yet redemptive process in the past issues of my web page.

NawNeeWah is 14 years old and in the 6th grade.  Her mother worships Buddha and offers food to the spirit houses.  She seeks the fortune teller and recently left her family for a man in Bangkok, who quickly left her, so now she is with another man.  Three of her children are at Sunshine Orchard.  They have been utterly heartbroken by their Mother’s uncaring and wicked lifestyle.  I have grown to love these children dearly.  They, like so many other Karen children on the border have similar deep problems in the history of their home and villages.

It was Friday evening and I had just finished my bath in the river.  With my sarong tightly tucked under my arms, and bucket of washed clothes in hand, I was dripping my way to my hut. Evening worship would begin in 10 minutes so I was in a hurry. Suddenly one of the teachers grabbed my arm and said, “NahNeeWah is unconscious in the dormitory, come quickly.” I don’t know how I managed to put my dry clothes on so quickly, but soon I was kneeling on the bamboo floor of the girl’s dormitory with a sinking heart.  NawNeeWah had been lying there since dinner time.  She had felt dizzy and laid down shortly after eating.  Now the all too familiar twisted hands and fingers jolted my mind back to 2 years ago when demon possesson took a catastrophic grip.

How suddenly without preparation and soul searching, does the devil make his deadly blows.  How constantly do we need to be in the total control of the dear Saviour, who gave His life to cast out the demons in our own souls and give us the power to cast them out in others!

I took the girls blood pressure and vital signs to be sure that I was not hastily diagnosing this uncanny situation.  But the atmosphere was heavy with the all too recognizable evil spirit. I prayed earnestly there beside the girl, and then requested that the girl be taken out of the dormitory quickly, away from the other girls who might be influenced by the atmosphere around her.  I saw someone from the Steck family pass by and asked if we could take her to their house, but before an answer came, BeNeeHtu, hearing my wish to get her out, carried her to the godly female teacher’s house, TharaMoo WahNeePaw.  BeNeeHtu stayed to help of which I was very thankful.  He loves Jesus with all his heart.  Blet Jaw was by my side and I breathed a prayer of thanks for his presence among us.  As I prayed and had special Bible verses read in the Karen language, the entire Steck family entered.  They enjoy singing hymns in beautiful 4 part harmony.  The strains of music that filled the damp evening air that Friday night as we all joined in with their music, was such as would make the demons tremble.  Together we gave Jesus our hearts and each one searched into the depths of their souls to find any ugly spots of defilement.  As each heart turned to God and the poor girl writhed on the ground, I thought of Jesus and His mighty works.  How I prayed for the deliverance of this dear girl.  Finally I said these words.  “Now we need to turn this girl over to Jesus and demand in His name that the demons come out of her.”  At that moment, the girl untwisted and relaxed her hands and fingers, she opened her eyes and sat up!   The atmosphere was clean and bright with the Holy Spirit.  Each face shone with joy!  God was present!

I spoke to the girl telling her how much I loved her!  I asked her several questions to find where her thoughts were.  I told her that Satan wanted to own her because she was very valuable to God. But he cannot get to you if you give yourself each day to Jesus.  She has a lovely singing voice and has been using it for God. Satan hates that.  I asked her if she would like to say a prayer and give her heart and mind to Jesus that from this moment on she could ask to be controlled by His power.  She smiled and said the most meaningful, beautiful prayer!  She asked Jesus to forgive her sins and keep her by His power.  She wanted to belong to Jesus.  To live and work for Him..

I am constantly amazed by the blatant work of Satan in this godless country, but in contrast, I see the equally dangerous subtlety with which he works in the high society and advanced culture of America. Pride and covetousness do not seem like major sins, along with harsh and hasty words, but they are revolting to Jesus and leading millions down to their ruin.  Oh let us wake up to Satan’s trickery and deceit.  Let us watch, pray and search our hearts lest we enter into temptation and he comes in like a thief to destroy us and others that we could have saved.

Because of His death on the cross, “All power is given Him..”  He wants to give you that power. Oh please pray for it just now.
